2-day course covering the entire medical school application and selection process
Molly and Rachel founded Applican in 2014 to ensure as many school students as possible have access to the guidance and tips to ensure they display their full potential in their medical school applications. The cost of the course is kept low to ensure access to as many students as possible. Furthermore Applican bursaries are available for students who would financially be unable to attend our courses. For more information please contact Molly via firstname.lastname@example.org.
The two day summer course costs £140 and this includes the preliminary course preparation pack, the course workbook, the 2 day course, refreshments and access to post-course resources and post-course Q&A by telephone or email to your course mentors.

Over the two day course we will cover the entire application and selection processes. The first day will be dedicated to the application and the second day will be dedicated to the selection process. The entire course will be accompanied by a workbook and a preliminary worksheet will be sent in advance to maximise the benefits of the course content for you.
The reasons you are interested in medicine will in themselves help direct you towards the medical school best suited to you. We will run through the course structures of the UK medical schools and highlight the most important differences that will help you in final decisions
The basic template for a personal statement is important for medicine and there are some tips we have picked up from our experiences that we will share. However, all medical students will be including work experience and extra-curricular activities but we will help demonstrate how we made ours stand out from the thousands of other applicants. We also hold personal statement clinics during lunch breaks, offering bespoke and individualised advice on your personal statement.
The best way to be prepared for interview is to be aware of medicine on a national and international scale. We will give you a basis to this understanding in your packs and discuss how you can build on it in preparation for upcoming interviews
A brief overview of the different entrance tests, our scores and how we prepared for them to help you make the best choices for your application.
We will explain our general and personal tips for dealing with the wide variety of interview types throughout your medical school application and will work through our extensive bank of sample questions in your packs that are repeatedly asked throughout interview systems
A complete 15 minute mock interview will be conducted with students asked to make notes on observations and then an interactive discussion of the interview will take place including a general interview Q&A session.
Ethical scenarios and problem solving questions are becoming increasingly more common so we will discuss how best to approach these questions and discuss the recurring themes
Having a solid understanding of the structure of the NHS and the career path of a doctor is important for any prospective medical student but even more so in the current climate with huge political & economical debates ongoing in this area.
Multiple mini interviews are now the most commonly used interview style for UK medical schools. We will have an extended session where students will have the opportunity to take part in mock stations and practice responding to some difficult situations.
The entire 2 day course will be structured in a course workbook with all the information you need including an area to note down questions you may have as we go along. Then, at the end of the course there will be an open Q&A session and an opportunity to ask questions 1 on 1.
After the course, a series of post course resources will be available to help you research special topics of interest and prepare for the interviews ahead. There will also be a fortnight window where you can ask any questions you may have via email or telephone as you prepare your application.
